Google MayDay Update – Cutts Confirms Long Tail Traffic Impact

April 28th 2010, Google threw another update into play. While Google has its share of fun, webmasters around the world are still scratching their heads over what the heck went wrong. Matt Cutts confirmed this to be like any other 350 to 500 updates that Google introduces every year in its algorithm.

So what exactly is Google upto? Is it an attempt to reshuffle web? Or is it that Google Engineers were busy coding PacMan and lost control of their core ranking system? For some E-commerce websites which held strong top spots for long, this update has been a massive blow as their sales have gone down upto 50%.
