Next Google PR / Pagerank Update Schedule For 2010

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

Google PR Update brings along with a nail biting session for Link Builders, Webmasters and Domain flippers wherein their online real estate’s value is decided by Google’s Pagerank Update.

With Google Caffeine upgrade, Google Crawler has no doubt started crawling the web faster. January 2010 when Caffeine was rolled out a lot of Search Engineers had a view that now Google PR update will become more frequent, as Google’s Algorithm would be bound to markup with the higher crawling rate of Crawler, but it seems its not so. After January 2010 Google PR update, next update started on 31st March 2010 – 12 AM PST.

While Google Pagerank update is not the most accurate measure of a website’s performance on Search Engines, its considered as perhaps the most trusted parameter on Ad Space Monetization, Link Selling, Link Purchasing and Domain Value.
More about Google PR update can be read on Matt Cutts Blog which speaks about Whats a Pagerank Update and Algorithm Updates /Data refreshes.
In this post, I would also like to sum up different kind of updates that Google Carries out from time to time.
  1. Google Toolbar PR update – Most of us are already familiar with this. While Google continuously updates PR, on Google Toolbar the update once after 3 to 4 months depending on data load in Google’s database.
  2. Google Directory export – This is where Google exports real PR to its directory (on a scale of 8). This is not reflected in Toolbar from time to time, but only used by Google to pull out snippets to update its SERP rankings for most relevant results.
  3. Backlink Update /Export – This is where you can see an update in the number of  ’cached backlinks’ on your website. If you are carrying out off page SEO for your website, this update will help you analyze which links actually weigh the most in Google eyes. BL profile for cached links to a domain can be seen by using the search operator link:www.domainname.com. We did a post earlier about the same, you may read more about BackLink update here. Link Building Services around the world usually rely on Google Backlink upgrade to assess the results of their Link building efforts.
  4. Google Algorith update – This is a where Google brings about a major update in its algorithm. For instance January 2010 update of Google Caffeine.
Probable Google PR Update Schedule for 2010:-

  1. January 2010
  2. March 2010
  3. June 2010
  4. October 2010
  5. December 2010
Another interesting read about Google PR update can be read on Andy Beard’s blog which discusses most strangest Google’s PR penalties till date. Google’s PR update is still a dilemma and an exact mechanism or understanding is rather tough to comprehend.
Feel free to share how did your website performed during current PR update. Good luck!

What Affect Would Caffeine Have On Affiliate Websites?

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

Mashable tagged Google Caffeine as a response to Microsoft’s Bing and did a nice post comparing Decaffeinated Google, Google Caffeine and Bing results, testing solidarity of each respectively based on different technical metric scales.

There has been much speculations about Google Caffeine and when it comes to Affiliate Niche there seems to be a state of uneasiness about Google Caffeine.

I visit around 100 Premier Affiliate Forums where Internet Marketing Experts discuss, rant and dig into the most recent developments taking place on Search Engines. We all know that Affiliates heavily rely on Search Engines to get there moolah.

Hence the question – ‘How would Google Caffeine affect Affiliate Websites?’

Google gave loud and clear indication in a recent blog post on its official Blog that, on page factor will play an important role in website’s relevancy to rank on top for its targeted keywords. For instance, affiliate websites with same template structure and navigation which sit tight on Top of Google due to the ‘keyword in URL’ factor have the most to worry.  The websites having almost similar navigation and using autoblogging tricks to gather content are going to lose out on their search engine rankings. Google will also be particular about the Bad Neighborhood viz – back link profile of a website.

Here are a few important SEO & Non SEO factor which Google Caffeine would consider while grading websites:-

The Right Link Building Approach For Google Caffeine
Usually affiliates ‘buy-out’ there links based on the criterion that a page should be cached by Google frequently. Such back links from totally non-related themed websites would again cause trouble to your rankings. Affiliates need to pick up their website’s backlinks more thoroughly now and make sure that they spend most there time in getting Unique Content which automatically draws links from other sites (link-baiting) and a major percentage of link popularity drive must come from THEMED pages and websites only!

Social Media And Google Caffeine
Its not only Bing which poses a threat to Google’s supremacy but even Twitter search which is focusing on REAL TIME SEARCH ENGINE results raised several brows at Googleplex, earlier this year. You can expect Google Caffeine to be more fast forward when it comes to Real time Search. The only bridge between   Organic Search Engine Results and Real Time Search is Social Media Sphere.  So make sure that all the Weight Loss articles on your Acai Berry product websites should be syndicated with the Social Media Sphere. Moreover, the content quality should be very current and ahead of time to invite instant clicks which improves your chances to rank well by going viral in REAL TIME SEARCH.

Page Load Time And Google Caffeine
Page load time is again a very important issue which is going to determine website ranks. So if you have a blog which is drawing content dynamically using RSS, you are bound to loose your rankings. This issue was highlighted in a recent Google Webmaster Tool update. On the same note, if you are using a template for your website or probably have a lot of gadgets / third party scripts on your website which slow down the Page Load time, your website would again be suffering on the Caffeinated Google Results.

Bounce Rate And Google Caffeine
Since long, Bounce Rate is an important metric in Google analytics which is used by internet marketers to get a certain idea about how traffic responds to their website. For affiliates who earn money by putting banners on there homepages, the bounce rate is usually very high. When it comes to Google Caffeine, your bounce rate would definitely determine your ranks on Search Engine Result Pages. So probably the best way is to put your banners and traffic crosslinks on the internal pages. The homepage should have links to your internal MONEY PAGES where you must place your banners and traffic cross links, this would increase the Onsite time and will reduce the Bounce Rate of your website. Also, your content on homepage should be driving and tricky enough to force your audience to reach your internal money pages.

Website Thickness And Google Caffeine
We all know that thin one page websites are whacked bigtime by Google. Earlier, these footlong sales pages used to do magic with conversions but now with Google becoming more strict with online scams and their close relations to such thin affiliate websites, you must make sure that your website should NOT be a thin sales page website. Google Caffeine bound to play ‘whack-a-mole’ for all such thin sales affiliate websites. So its probably a good idea to add lots of content and related silos of data to your affiliate website.

Keyworded Domains And Google Caffeine
Since its inception, Google has always been more like a Knowledge Assembly tool which has a hungry crawler guzzling Gigabytes of data every second. Google Algorithm works on arranging content under the related categories and the key trigger in its database is the website URL. A golden era for Keyworded Domains is going to come alive with Google Caffeine coming to action. Multimillionaire corporations are going to buy out thousands of domains with there niche keywords in it to ensure that they dominate there ranks on the Search Engines. This new evolved web will probably be much more narrower in scope and very topic specific.

Webhosting and Google Caffeine
Most of the Internet Marketing experts are of the opinion that the hosting is going to be a decider when Google is grading a website. For instance, consider a situation where a server IP – xxx.yyy.aa.qqq is hosting 200 different domains all based in Teeth Whitening niche. Calls for a guaranteed bitchslap by Google!

With Google Caffeine, my word is that affiliate webmasters must not take any chance at all. There approach must be to ‘share the info and rake the cash‘. Relevancy, Authority and Site Quality is the buzzword for Google Caffeine. This would also call for more cash spend at the GUI and coding level of SEO implementation.

With several such Search Engine Updates – Search on internet is becoming a highly sophisticated tool and its a necessity for all of us to keep up with it.

Google Caffeine
is already live on the following Data-center:- http://209.85.225.103 and is live almost 50% of times on the same data center. So if you would like to have  a taste of Google’s Caffeine try running search for some keywords.

As an Affiliate or Savy Internet Marketer, it is imperative that we must adopt to the dynamics of internet. With Google playing the lead in Search Engine Technology for now, one must make sure that their web real estates must 100% comply to the technology verticals laid down by Big G!

Bing’s Edge Over Google – Ties Up With Twitter & Facebook

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Microsoft’s Qi Lu announced yesterday at Web2.0 summit in San Francisco that Bing has finally made a deal with Facebook & Twitter to show real time status and updates in its Search Results. Definetely a smack too hard in G’s gut?

Rumors were that Twitter was trying to have a deal with Google and Microsoft since past few months. But then yesterday at Web 2.0 summit, Bing took an edge over Google by being a pro in giving vantage to Microblogging in its Organic Search Engine Results.

Though Twitter – the mega microblogging tool is way less populated than Facebook, it indicated shooting off a Real Time Search Engine by geling in an Algorithmic Search Engine in Twitter’s user’s interface.

Facebook, as we know it from years ago - a temple of Social Networking - used to keep all its traffic activity behind a secured login wall. But off late the Facebook Posts along with Events pages have started floating in Googlosphere. A clear indication that how Twitter and Facebook were throughout tilling to be a part of Search Engine Traffic share.

For Internet Marketing Experts, definition of SEO and Social Media Optimization would change as now for optimizing a website they would definetely also need to have good Twitter and Facebook activity for boosting a website’s SEO on Bing!

To interpret better, whilst searching for a keyword like “SMX conference” you will also find tweets and facebook status updates speaking about “SMX” showing up on Bing search results.

This partnership should defientely put some good pressure on Google as it is a clear indicaton that Google’s search index would lack real-time information.

Now the question is WHY DID GOOGLE NOT TAKE ITS INITIATIVE?

To me, it seems, Google still wants to see its sacred organic results undiluted and trusts its algorithm better than Social Networking veto to a web load of information.

Off the topic, Facebook has also started showing up Bing’s ads. This is a clear indication how cordical the Facebook and Bing relationships are. Facebook is next most popular search keyword after “Porn” on internet and the traffic on Facebook is unmatched. Bing would have definetely gone an extra mile to get that valuable E-space off Facebook’s traffic basket.

Bottom Line? Microsoft still has a long road ahead to catch up with Google. We can only keep our finger’s crossed that Bing’s algorithm would be mathamatically and analogically well programmed to identify which information snippets to pull out from Twitter & Facebook. In saying this, its a fact that Rumor’s and Misinterpreted information soaps are a necessary part of Tweets which makes its digital enviornment very virally chatty!

NetApplications and StatCounter later yesterday announced that still Google sits atop with 84% of the Search Engine Market share. Only the time will tell if Google would consider allowing Social Networking updates in its Search Results.

A lot more to follow..
